27 3 00pm Benjamin Ennque Vega 22 Delta was booked into jail after turning himself into Deputy Eric Eberle on a pair of arrest warrants Vega is being held on a no bail warrant from the 4 District Court for Class A misd DU1 with an injury accident Class Bmisd driving on suspension and Class C misd unsafe lane travel The second warrant was from the East Millard Justice Court where he owed S35 on a fine he’d been paying off He pled guilty the charges in District Court and was sentenced to 34 days in jail He made a payment arrangement with Judge Ron Hare on the other warrant and he will be released when the 34 days have been served 9 00 p m male juvenile from Fool Creek is arrested by Deputy Morris Burton for his involvement in an auto burglary Burton said that the boy had removed items from a pickup truck in Leamington The value of the items was over S200 and the suspect was charged into juvenile court with Class A misd Vehicle burglary and theft 9 45 p m Martin 25 of Pleasant Grove UT was arrested at mp 163 southbound was by Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Thomas driving a blue 19S6 Chevy Van when he was stopped for improper lane travel The driver was not intoxicated but his license was suspended for a previous DUI conviction He was transported to the Millard County Jail and charged into FMJC with Class C misd driving on suspension and unsafe lane travel He appeared in front to Judge Ron Hare and pled guilty to both charges He was given an $800 fine payable in monthly payments He was then released Tuesday March 28 309 p m Zcbulon Lloyd Peterson 21 of American Fork Paul Michael Goold 20 male juvenile of SIC were Jana Michelle Money ham 9 of Hurricane and a all arrested at the north Fillmore Interchange by Troopers Dean Shields and Mike Thomas The four subjects were in a grey 1988 Honda Accord when they were stopped for speeding 84 mph Shields could smell marijuana in the vehicle and a vehicle search uncovered marijuana Shields and Thomas pat searched the subjects and located numerous items of drug paraphernalia marijuana and even cocaine All four were transported to the jail and charged w ith the follow ing crime Peterson was charged into 4 District Court with 2” degree felony possession of cocaine Class A misd possession of marijuana (both were enhanced due to previous convictions) and Class B misd possession of drug paraphernal la He also had four activ e warrants for his arrest These warrants totaled $2900 cash for previous drug theft and traffic charges He posted bond on the charges here and was picked up by American Fork Police Department on the 3 1" to face the warrants there Money ham was charged into EMJC with Class B misd DUI drugs possession of marijuana and Class C misd driving on a suspended license and speeding Herbaiiwas set at $1640 which she posted and was released The juvenile was charged in juvenile court with Class B misd possession of marijuana and underage of alcohol He was held until his parents paraphernalia by Shellie Dutson Judgments made by Gary D Stott on March 30 & 3 2000 in Millard County Criminal matters All defendants are gally presumed innocent until proven guilty John Scott Evans appeared before the court Evans pleaded guilty to amended charges One class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and one class A misdemeanor driving under the influence Evans was sentenced to 10 days in the Millard County Jail and fined $250 for each guilty plea Jail time was suspended on the condition that fines would be paid Evans was given one year court probation and undergo an alcohol and drug evaluation by June 15 Mindy Grace Ross appeared before die court Ross entered into a six month plea in abey ance agreement and pleaded guilty to one class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Ross is to pay fees on or before Sept plea in abevance ' 152000 Teresa Hardy pleaded guilty to amended charges Hardy pleaded guilty to one class B misdemeanor distribution of alcohol to a minor After seeing a video tape presented by the proscction Judge Stott sentenced Hardy to serve six months in the Millard County Jail All but 30 days of the jail time was suspended Hardy will begin sen ing on April 6 Stott also ordered an evaluation of Hardy by The vision of Family Services to be completed 12 by May 12 and placed Hardy on months court probation Richard C Swain Jr appeared and tered into a plea in abeyance agreement with the state Swain pleaded guilty to one class B misdemeanor simple assault Tamara Umezis did not appear before the court Urnezis requested to plead guilty to one class A misdemeanor unauthorized control of a vehicle in Judge Stott’s court in Provo Judge Stott granted the request Joel Matthew Harbin did not appear for arraignment Harbin was to appear for charges of one class A misdemeanor supply of alcohol to minors two class B misdemeanors possession of a controlled substance and poss ssion of drug paraphernalia and one class A misdemeanor violating a no contact order Judge Stott ordered a bench warrant be issued Gina Rochelle Cabral did not appear before the court Cabral is charged with four felony charges Two counts of uttering forged or altered prescription and two charges of illegal possession of a controlled substance A bench warrant was issued and bail set at $10000 cash Robert Preston Burrup appeared for initial appearance Barrup is charged with one felony possession with intent to distribute one class B misdemeanor driving with a measurable con Wednesday March 29 911 dispatch received report ofa structure fire at the Mike and Laurie Holt 4 17am residence in Fillmore Deputy Devon Quamberg was the first to arrive on the scene He met with all the occupants of the home as they stood on the frozen lawn watching the home at 210 W 300 N in Fillmore go up in flames Fillmore and Holden Fire Departments both responded with a total of three engines and 17 firefighters Fillmore Fire Lt Chad Imlay said that the fire was caused by a couch being too close to a gas fireplace The couch fire spread quickly and was too big for the home owners who tried to extinguish it As firefighters arrived the family room of the home was fully engulfed in flames The officers began an interior attack and battled the fire which reached temperatures of 1000 degrees inside the home The fire climbed upwards inside the walls to the 2 story and burned a hole through the roof The attic fire was the toughest to fight as it was a confined area Crews left the scene after 7 am and damage estimate is expected to be at least $50000 One firefighter was transported by ambulance to Fillmore Hospital where he was treated and released after experiencing breathing problems female juvemlewere arrested at 10:30 am Fred Homer Temple 19anda by Trooper Tom Schneitcr and Deputy Steve O’Camb The mp 154 southbound suspects were driving a bright ellow 1988 Honda CRX w hen they stole $9 97 worth of gas from the Paradise Chevron station in Fillmore As if that wouldn’t have been easy enough to spot as it was they were speeding 95 mph as they passed Schneiter Officers talked with the subjects who claimed they had paid for the gas with a credit card Further investigation showed that the pair never even attempted to pay for the gas and actually sped off after pumping it The female lied about her name and personal information Both were transported to the jail and interviewed at length by the officers Finally it was uncovered that the two were on the run from the northern Utah area The girl was a runaway and was listed as a protected person in a protective order issued against Temple The two had been on the run for a few days and had narrowly avoided capture in Layton and Ogden prior to driving here Thomas said that there was a long history of problems between Temple and the girls parents The prob'ems had included assaults and weapons violations Many of these charges are still pending in the other jurisdictions Temple paid for the gas and was charged into 4 District Court with Class A misd violation of a protective order Class B misd contributing to the delinquency of Morris Burton who was investigating a sex offense against an The boy was interviewed by Burton and a Department of Family Services worker His statements about a number of incidents were the same as what the victim had claimed Additional offenses that had gone unreported involving another young girl were also discovered The boy was transported tojail in Fillmore where he was charged with three degree felony sodomy of a child and three degree felony counts of Rape of a child counts of degree felony sexual abuse of a child He was then transported to the Slate Canyon Juvenile Detention Center in Provo He w ill be held pending a hearing and could possibly be released soon thereafter Thursday March 30 8 00 p m Douglas A Kaman Jr 24 of Wellington UT Ryan Cony 19 of Delta UT and Richard Charles Truswell aka Rick Devers 20 also of Delta were all arrested by Deputy Steve O'Camb and Detects e Roger Young The three were suspects in a in the Delta area (See front page story ) Friday March 31 8 20 p m Russell Pikyavit 37 and Lura Christine Jim 27 both of Kanosh were arrested by Sgt Scott Corey Deputy Bill Jackson and Detective Roger Young after an incident at the entrance to Kanosh Canyon Deputies had responded to a 91 phone call from some indiv iduals camped there According o Detective Young Pikyavit was driving recklessly when he stopped and confronted the individuals that were camped there Piky av it told the campers that they were on the reservation and needed to get off They were not on the reservation so they told him they would not leave One of the campers happened to have a rifle over his shoulder so Pikyavit said he was going to the car to get his gun and kill them Two of the men were off duty sheriff s deputies from another county Piky av it went back to the car to get his gun when the passenger in the vehicle Lura Jim started to argue with him Pikyavit pulled her out of the car and beat her reportedly w ith a rock Piky av it left her at the scene and misdemeanor driving on a denied license and one class C misdemeanor operation of vehicle without payment of registration Milkie was sentenced to serve year in the Millard County Jail for the class A conviction All but 15 days were suspended Milkie was also sentenced to serve 15 days for the class B conviction and 5 days for the class C conviction No credit was given for time already served The sentences w ill run concurrent and Milkie was placed on probation the Adult Parole and Probation for 24 months Jail time will begin April 5 Jammie Robert Key appeared before the court Key pleaded guilty to three felony charges forgery A presentence report was ordered and Key was released on his own recognizance until sentencing on May 25 David Michael Stewart appeared and pleaded guilty to amended charges Stew art pleaded guilty to one class B misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia one class B misdemeanor driving with a measurable controlled substance one class B misdemeanor driving on a denied license one class C misdemeanor follow ing another vehicle too closely and an infraction required child restraint not used For theclassB misdemeanor charges Judge Stott sentenced Stewart to serve six months in the Millard County Jail Ail but 40 days was suspended A total of $850 in fines was imposed and credit for felony counts of aggravated assault and Class C misd intoxication He is currently on Parole from the Utah State Prison where he is serving a to 15 year sentence for drug convictions and an assault on a peace officer Laura lim was charged with a 3 degree m Angela Burdick 21 of Payson UT was arrested at mp 174 southbound by Detective Jim Masner Burdick was in a white 2000 Ford Focus that was stopped for a traffic violation A record check showed that she had an active warrant form the Washington County Justice Court in St George She was transported tojail where a friend of hers posted the $3 10 cash bail and she was released 1:00 pm Two male juveniles from Oak City were arrested at the intersection of center and main streets in Delta by Reserve Depuiy Dale Josc Josse said they ran a stop sign coming onto main from Center Street and he made a traffic enforcement stop When Josse contacted the occupants he could smell burnt marijuana in the vehicle and requested a search which was granted He located some marijuana in the vehicle and the two were transported to the substation in Delta where they were cited and released to their parents Sunday April 2 05 am Deputy Morris Burton located an underage alcohol party in Oak Creek Canyon and parked nearby He walked right up the campfire and stood there for a while before the participants realized that he was standing there Most of the subjects up to He stopped five individuals and talked with them 25 people ran off into the bushes Three of them had not been drinking but John Randall Jensen 21 of Delta was cited for contributing to the delinquency of minors and 19 year old Louie Morris was cited for underage consumption of alcohol That group of individuals cleaned up the area of beer cans aid other garbage and left Deputy Burton parkedjust down the canyon and waited for the owners of the vehicles who ran away to show up He stopped a white pickup and contacted the occupants two of them had been drinking but the third subject was a male juvenile who was intoxicated and he was cited into juvenile court The next vehicle drove by at 1:30 am and Burton stopped the red 1994 Pontiac Grand Am The veh:cle was driven by 19 year old Josh Greathouse who had been one of the subjects that ran from the party Held sobriety tests were performed prior to arresting him for DUI A passenger in the chicle 20 year old Chad Greathouse of Delta had been consuming alcohol and had a wan ant for his arrest from Ncphk Both were transported to jail and charged into West Millard Justice Court with the following crimes: Josh Greathouse charged with Class B misd DUI alcohol and Class B Russell Bell 35 of Santa Rosa CA was arrested at mp 10 on SR50 by Trooper Rick Nielson and Deputy Moms Burton Bell was driving a white 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup when he was stopped for speeding 85 in a 65 zone He did not have a drivers license and a computer chec k uncovered a no bail w arrant on the national computer from the state of California A ehicle search incident to arrest located marijuana inside the vehicle and Bell admitted to smoking it while driving He was transported tojail in and charged into West Millard Justice Court with Class B misd DUI Drugs possession of marijuana and Class C misd driving on suspension and speeding California authorities will extradite him back when he is done with the charges here Nielson said that Bell admitted to having been involved in drug arrests Shields stopped a vehicle for speeding this past week and adv iscd the driver that he was going 85 mph and would receive a ticket The driver denied it and said he had has his cruise control set at 80 mph Shields asked if he’d checked his speedometer lately and he said “yes" he then explained that just down the road he’d had his cruise set at 80 mph when he went through that construction zone the
