Boise Harder Mabel Boise Harder age March 26 2000 at Nephi Utah She was born May 17 1919 at Powell oming to Benjamin Erv in and Sadie Moore Boise She married Dean Harder December 27 1946 in Fly Nevada He died January 3 1996 Mabel grew up on a farm in rural riding her pony a one room She graduated from Powell High School in 1937 and attended the University of Wyoming Her first teaching ob was in Wyoming After the beginning of World War II she completed telegraph school in Spokane Washington She moved to Lynndyl Utah to seek adventure working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegraph operator She met and married Dean and stay ed in Leamington She taught in the for over 50 years Leamington Elementary School until it closed and then continued teaching first grade in Delta for a total of 30 ears working with children Mabel was an active member of the Delta Community Church She was an energetic generous and witty lady who loved life Mabel is survived by Daughter Dena H would have been 92 on April 8 She was bom the oldest of five children on Apnl 8 1908 in Holdrege Nebraska to Marie Therese Sundquist and Carl Emi Veline She married John Reed Skidmore March 31 1929 in Los Angeles California solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6 1930 She and Reed moved to Delta in March 1969 Reed preceded her in death on October 3 1987 She w as a member of the LDS Church and in her younger years she taught Primary Sunday School and Homemaking classes in Relief Society After coming to Delta she and Reed enjoyed going with two other couples and working in the temple three days a week They loved to travel throughout the country checking cemeteries etc and wnting letters to Sweden frying to locate information on her ancestors and compiling family record books Edith was a woman of many talents particularly with her hands She loved gardening and loved raising flow ers both outside and in her home hile liv ing in California she raised all kinds straw bemes boysenberries raspberries youngbemes and various vegetables peaches oranges All during her life she crocheted doilies table cloths Afghans made quilts embroidered dresser scarves sewed baked and canned all types of food kkhile raising her family she taught classes in her basement free of charge to friends and particularly young people in making all types of plaster Parts and wood cralt such as figurines wall hangings items book ends lawn ornaments etc She could take any article of clothing place it on a newspaper and make a pattern from it The family survived the depression through her being thrifty by cutting down and sew ing clothes for hersel f and her ch from clothing given to her by her neighbors She also made her own bread rolls pies and would gather apples that had fallen from neighbors trees
