Have you ever wondered what would happen to people if we didn’t have food or land? I would like to tell you what these all mean to me Who could exist on this earth if we didn’t have food? Food keeps us all alive If we didn’t eat we would all die If animals don't have food to eat they would die If plants and even the land the plants grow on didn’t have the right food they would die and the earth wouldn’t exist our CD rate 46 better 7-month than the competition win Not onl Here’s Certificate does our of Deposit offer the best rate in town with a S500 minimum (and SI 00000 maximum) it gies at risk principal ou a good And solid return without putting uiur our short term won't lie up our mone for a long time Howexer there is 460C is onlx good through April 30 1992 and our To learn more about Delta office at C’ertilicate ol Deposit or isit the Vallex Bank office nearest S64-3- The best rate our in town with a S500 minimum term in town Would xour bank do that? Driver License Examiner Schedule penalty for early withdrawal a substantial First of all we have to remember that God created this world He created the land the water and the animals He then created people to live on this earth By our will to survive we had to learn how to use the land and the water and the animals to keep on living We had to learn to cultivate the land plant our crops and food and do with the land what v'e could to stay alive We used animals to help with the crops as well as use them for a part of our food supply Most of the farm work now is done with machinery but for years and years animals were a great help in our farm work Our food supply now depends a lot on the farmer The farmers are still the backbone of America There are not as many farmers now days as there used to be But we still depend on them for our main food supply We don’t think about them a lot but we sure would think about them and appreciate them if we went to the grocery store and there was no food on the shelves More people today need to use the land to help supplement their food supply We can do this by growing gardens in our back yards and then preserve the food by canning or freezing and storing the food to eat during the winter In order to do this we also need to help the land by taking care of our earth We need to save our planet by conserving energy and not polluting the environment We need to keep our waters clean and pure We need to right big government dumping toxic waste and dangerous chemicals on our clean lands God gave us this land to use not to abuse We need to remember not to take these blessings for granted and to use the food land and people for the betterment of our earth so that the people who live on earth after we die can enjoy Gods blessings also call our ou deposit and the only Delta 2nd & 4th Wednesdays Every Friday Fillmore 1st 3rd & 5th Wednesdays Delta 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Fillmore 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Get results with or display ads classified Call Craig at 0 or Evelyn at 743-534- 0 Agriculture How It Affects The People And The Land by Zack Elmer People need the land to grow crops to produce the food supply for the world If people don’t lake care of the land we will run out of food In early times when agriculture began men found they could obtain everything they needed from farming hunting and fishing They were producing completely everything they needed At the present farms time there are few due to trade world in the left anywhere that is carried on Even Indians changed their agriculture products for such things as salt cloth and objects made of metal Science showed farmers how to preserve the soil by means of fertilizers crop rotation making use of the bacteria in the soil and guarding against soil erosion Growing different crops on the soil is important so it doesn’t take out the minerals needed to grow other crops Planting com wheat and cotton in different years and in different sections of land is called crop rotation Farming is not just putting seeds in the ground and letting them grow Farmers have to be part scientists weathermen biologists and witch doctors Farmers that don't follow the rules of crop rotation waste the land and the soil Poor soil will not produce essential food This is when the world food supply will come to a stop The farmers need toknow how to use pesticides properly and safely Pesticides arc needed to protect the crops from insects and certain bacteria but improperly used pesticides can be harmful or even deadly to plants animals and human lives My viewpoint is if people and farmers don’t cooperate together and listen to the scientists biologists and weathermen the crops will start dying More nations will become third world nations where people die and suffer from malnutrition Our nation may become a third world nation if we don’t STOP and LISTEN Food for Thought by Carla Coats Food for thought One US farm family feeds 79 people aren’t you glad that their are farmers maybe you would be number 80 and no food If there wasn’t any land the farmer couldn’t plant the food to feed your families So Food Land and People are like a circle you can’t have one without the other Some people think they can live on food not produced by farmers but some fish are farmed by Fish farmers Milk comes from dairy farmers (not from cartons and jugs) Meat comes from cattle farmers and bread from grain farmers Vegetables and fruit come from vegetable and fruit farmers everything is tied to the land Farming isn’t a easy life Farmers have to deal with all kinds of challenges Weather is it going to rain snow freeze blow be hot are cold Is the price going to go down or up Are costs going to go up or stay the same (they never go down) With all the trials its not easy being a farmer but my dad kind of like it most of the time On thing a farmer always says “But next you- will be better” |
