Cory considers twirling a lost art in Utah school bands It is such a refined art it takes a lot of motivation and drive said Dotson Utah and the surrounding states have not seen much twirling compared to the midwest eastern and western coastal regions Nellie is the daughter of Bill and Elaine Iverson granddaughter of Harold and Ruth Done all of Hinckley Utah She is the wife of Israel Dotson of Delta Utah performed in her first parade at age 3 “You can’t start too young” she states When she was 5 she performed with her baton on Romper Room then continued to lake lessons and performing whenever she could In her freshman year at Pine View High School she performed with the band as majorette and twirlcr and continued lettering all 4 years in band as a twirlcr She remembers that time as a challenge “because we did a lot of trav- eling" The band and Dotson performed in the Days of ‘47 Parade in Salt Lake City with a parade route 4 miles long in Las Vegas NV and in college garnering many first homecomings Jennifer Riding Heather Riding Twins receive mission call Heather and Jennifer Riding twin daughters of Bob and Diane Riding of San Diego CA have been called to serve in the mission field for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Heather will be serving in the Ecuador Guayaquil North Mission entering the Mission Training Center on May 13 Jennifer will be serving numerous festivals including the Telluride Jazz Festival the Philadelphia Folk Festival the Festival and the Utah Arts Festival In addition to the concert there will be a workshop at no charge for High School and Middle School band members at the High School on Friday April 24 at 3:30 pm Students interested in attending the workshop should bring their instrument to it as they will learn to play some jazz music at the workshop Students who attend the workshop will receive a discount on the concert It's hoped that many people in the Delta area will take advantage of this opportunity to attend
