Story hour has started again If those are driving you crazy bring them to the library every Wednesam They day morning from 10 to will get to listen to several books and then will be able to put together a project of some kind We have really had a lot of fun in the past and know the kids will enjoy it This year at the library is the Year of the Young Reader We encourage everyone to come to the library and make this a year for all readers! We have received many new books that will be of interest to everybody The new Literacy classes are underway If there is anyone who would like to improve their reading please call the If you library or fee is $5 Dogs are to be kept under restraint at all times— on a leash or in a fenced yard If the animal is found at large and it will cost the owner $10 impounded plus $4 for each day it is impounded Dogs running free are a contant source of complaint from city In their annual report the residents indicated animal police department complaints were the number one cause for police action Unclaimed dogs picked up and impounded are also a considerable pense to the city above the cost for personnel Between two and three thousand dollars are paid out annually for This impound costs and euthanasia money comes from your tax dollars that could be more profitably spent somewhere else— streets for example Better cooperation from the public would go a long ways toward solving the dog Area Chamber of Commerce attended a morning session with the Utah Department of Transportation Commission members at the new DOT headquarters in Salt Lake City Also attending the meeting for the purpose of better highway signing on federal Highway 50 at Salina were Doyle Davidson Director of National Highway 50 from Denver Colorado Dr Ivan Hendrickson Chamber President of Salina and Carolyn Jensen Salina Chamber Board Member and a Salina businesswoman Mr Davidson began the presentation with an articulate statement of the primary use of Highway 50 from coast to coast and it’s vital role in moving traffic from the east and midwest to northern California When Highway 50 comes into Salina it is very difficult to find how to continue on to Scipio and Delta and many travelers get lost and several every year have to back track many miles to get back on Highway 50 Illustrations of the signs were used and nearly everyone agreed it was a most confusing situation The Utah Michael Terrell
