Show Abe Jensen b) Ken Rand Warren Jensen is no longer a Millard but he is going County Commissioner to stay active in community affairs It’s typical of the way Warren has lived all his life Warren was born in the house in Delta in which he now lives with his wife His children live elsewhere in the country His father was one of the first settlers in the area After graduating from Delta High School Warren completed a mission for the LDS Church and then joined the Air Force After pilot training in Arizona Warren went to Europe for three years Two of his children were born in France He served in over 50 countries including Vietmam and in all 50 states during his career in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve The Legion of Merit the highest peacetime honor the military can bestow on an officer is among the dozens of awards and honors Warren achieved He held several positions of command and retired with the rank of Colonel For a time he was in the dairy business in Delta He got a degree in from the Utah State agriculture Agriculture College When he retired from military service Warren accepted the challenge of running for County Commissioner Politics was not new to him His was a state representative he helped in the J Bracken Lee campaign and the Reagan campaign and served in several Republican Party positions “I always thought I might want to be a commissioner some day” Warren says “I had a lot of training a lot of courses I took in management so I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring and see what happens” That was in 1984 Warren has served two consecutive terms in office has it’s Being a commissioner Warren says “You can drawbacks Johnson both” Warren makes a habit of being an expert on whatever he tackles “That’s what I’ve done in public health” he says "and that’s the reason we found some of those coverups and some of the inequities that were going on in the Six County Area” Public health is one of the areas Warren feels is his major accomplishments while in office Another “We turned is the Road Department that around to where it is really productive now” he says “We put a lot of time into it and I really enjoyed it” He owns 600 acres of land counting rentals He raises hay barley corn alfalfa cattle pigs “I also have a chicken or two around” he says and a good crop of pheasant near the house Warren now serves on the West Millard Recreation District He is also Chairman of Special District “8” He is also serving on the public health committee for the Six County Commission He is also a bishop for the LDS Church And a husband father and farmer “I usually get involved someway Warren somehow” says and Johnson Abe Johnson enjoyed being Millard It’s quite likeCounty Commissioner ly he’ll enjoy whatever else he takes on including politics r term of office endAbe’s ed with the swearing in of his successor Jer’E Brinkerhoff at the Jan 3 Commission meeting at the courthouse in Fillmore “I’d like to say that I’m very very happy that I’ve been able to serve four years” Abe says Someday he may want to come back into politics “The reason that I’m not staying in politics and I did not run again is not because do not like it It’s because of my time scheduling” Mr and Mrs Johnson run their and constructlon--a- s a sole proprietorship and Abe says the commission has demanded “more time than I can afford right now” After graduating from Delta High School and college Abe worked for the Utah Department of Fish and Game for 10 years Following that he went into the insurance business on his own in the Salt Lake City area “We had the chance to move back to Fillmore in the insurance business the title end of it and in construction which we’re still in Abe says A group approached Abe about running for commissioner in 1984 but they didn’t have to twist his arm “Probably the main reason I ran more than anything else was my ancestry” he says “I come from a very strong family in this area a good family If there’s a black sheep in it it’s me I felt like I had something to offer” Abe is a Delta native but his origin in the county is Holden and Fillmore “My grandparents were born and raised in the Fillmore and Holden area” he says “One of my uncles of my granddad moved to Delta and homesteaded here The family still owns the property” His greatest accomplishment in four years of service?
