Show Millard County Josh Johnson is a sophomore at Delta High He is the son of Paul and Marilyn Johnson and is the fifth child of 9 Josh can be found working on his father’s farm in Sutherland or out hunting pheasants and women Occasionally he might be found out in the mountains trying to find his way home Josh might be called obnoxious at times but if he is it’s in the nicest way He enjoys playing basketball and dragging Main Preference is a success Christmas trees and decorations greeted each couple as they entered the DHS Cafeteria The theme for this years Preference Ball was “An Old Fashioned Christmas” For many Preference was the ending to an exciting series of events Most girls started out by asking a guy to the dance in a very creative way One junior after basketball practice ume out to his car and found it full of balloons one of which asked him to the dance After voting for the top ten most Preferred Senior guys an assembly was held to show their talents and to auction off their cookies to the highest bidder The biggest amount paid was $64 for Mike Church’s cookies At the end of the assembly the girls stayed in the auditorium and voted for 3 of the 10 guys Saturday during the dance they announced the winners: Corey Larsen and Burke Taylor tied for first runner-uand Jason Sabey is this years Most Preferred Man The dance and preceding events were met with a lot of enthusiasm and success Delta by Tami Reynolds The PTA at Delta High School has returned with a new name Instead of just the Parent Teacher Association it has been changed to the Parent Teacher Student Association This is because they felt that the students needed to be involved in the association since it was for their benefit The high school hasn’t had a PTA for two years and they decided it was time to get one going They wanted it to help meet the needs of the students and the school The student body president Rex Butterfield and vice president Laurel Simmons are the student representatives of the PTSA board They bring any complaints or suggestions that the students have to the board meeting The PTSA then takes those comments and tries to do something about them They encourage students’ comments because “It’s hard to know what the students want if you don’t have input” said Deb Jones vice president of PTSA The members of the board are: Connie Mortensen President Deb Jones Althea Finalist in the Miss National Coed Pageant to be held in Salt Lake City in June of 1989 The finalists then go on to Hawaii for national competition Darlene is a sophomore at Delta High School and is active in Acappella and Track She is the secretary of the young women in her church She likes meeting new people enjoys all types of sports being with her friends shopping and listening to music was the only member from Delta to place She took 2nd out of 150 participants in the Princeton in which she was given three subjects and 10 minutes to prepare a 6 minute speech on those three topics
