India Fan is the latest of Victoria Holt and is sure to please her readers and Tapestry by Belva Plain W’e also have received several donations from patrons within the last two weeks that might be of interest to you Drop in and check us out Last weekend for a little excitement we took an excursion to Oak City Canyon for a little dangling the worms in the creek W’ell instead of doing much fishing we became fascinated with this insect that we found on a tree It was doing all sorts of interesting things and was really fun to watch On Monday set morning upon arriving to work out to find the name of this wonderful came creature After a little looking upon a book with pictures of insects I do believe that what we found was an Ichneumons Fly These flies are large parasitic wasps There are several thousand species known The flies parasitize the burrowing larvae of horntails W hen a female ichneumon finds a tree infested with a horntail larva she drills a hole into the horntail burrow with her ov ipositor and either deposits an egg in the larva or near it The horntail larva becomes food for the ichneumon wasp larva that hatches from the egg And just to think that all this is happening in Oak City Canyon and you can read about it in the Delta City Library!
