overtime by Todd Callister The Delta Rabbits played host to the Payson Lions but worked the 3A team overtime in a less than hospitible victory Payson started the game off hot moving the ball from their own where Delta’s defense line to Delta’s shut the Lions down Delta could not move the ball from there and had to punt Lynn Allred received the ball for Payson and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown The tra point failed making the score Payson 6 Delta 0 But the Rabbits soon tied the score when Jared Smith passed to Justin Millard High Booster cards now on sale Booster cards are now on the Delta championship Rabbits believe it or not have already gotten off to a better start than last victory over Payson year The Friday vas the first win for the Rabbits after losing the 2A MVP the whole offensive line the 2A’s No specialist and many defensive mainstays In all Delta lost starters seven of honors those were awarded last year But even without those starters Delta looks to be a top contender again and could become the first team to repeat as 2A state champs since Millard A major factor in the Rabbits success this year will depend on returning Jared players such as quarterback Smith running back Dave Porter flanker Justin Peterson tight end Colt Moody and running back Bret Draper To solve the offensive line problem Coach Fowles has five new linemen who are smaller but maybe faster than last year’s linemen They include Russ Henrie Jim Larson Tony Lovell Gregg Warnick and Dusty Callister Parents of rs District has okayed a program in our center at the Millard High School Health has become such big business that it is hard to keep us with weekly “wonder” cancer cures diets programs and books At one time or another most of us have received a letter from a church member neighbor friend or acquaintance that reads something like this: “John and have recently become local distributors for (fill in the blank) Ever since we started using (blank) from us for a limited time only at the low low price of (blank) Sincerely Your closest most intimate (would lie to you?) friend” Even people who know that I write a consumer column keep sending me these letters and visiting me
