their new home The Ivies are proud parents of their first child a daughter who will be named Jessica This makes four granddaughters for Maxine and Armand The Bouchards bought the Grant Hardy home a few years ago and have done a lot of changing and fixing up inside as well as out Armand is a carpentar and has recently built a nice workshop near their home They have planted trees and grass and have great plans for the future Their daughter Christi Ivie has started school at Logan Gene and Carol Bishop spent the weekend visiting their sons Steve and wife Shaunda and baby and Stan and Deb and family in Cedar City On their way home they visited their daughter Gwen and family in Milford Several of the students taking from here received a recommendation to the Utah State Fair They were KaraLee Ekins daughter of Eldon and Deon She took her Child Care project of Marge daughter Lynn Works Works and Fred Works of Delta took her oil painting Beverly Taylor daughter of Parry and Jeanne took her knife sheath in leather tooling Sarah Western daughter of Sheldon and Sharon Western took her counted cross stitch and Jennifer Gardner daughter took of Steve and Trina Gardner peanut butter cookies All of the above mentioned exhibitors received a blue tried to find ribbon at the State Fair out who took their articles in the “open class” but there was no record of them James and Hailey Delta team and all were delighted with the outcome of the game On Saturday morning they watConched the St George Marathon nie Turner from Sutherland competed in the Marathon and was well pleased with her time which was 20 minutes faster than last year Doug Turner and Kathy Cropper were there to watch the race Kathy’s brother Howard Carroll from Jerome Idaho also ran in the marathon and did real well There were eight from this area’s running club in the race Brent Anderson son of Robert and Ruth (Jackson) Anderson from Ogden also competed in the race Dean Turner spent two weeks in Hawaii before he returned to college at SUSC in Cedar City Dean’s mission was filled in Hawaii so he enjoyed visiting friends and his cousin Kelly Bowers and family He got to do some deep sea diving and snorkling He spent time on the Islands of Oahu Maui and Molokai and had an enjoyable vacation Mur- Temple While attending the reception Oleta visited with Janice Clark Louise Carling and Sylvia and Paul Miller who are daughters of the late Heber and Vera Bishop They also saw Merna and Fred Jensen of Granger Merna reports who that her father Meron Peterson will is a former resident of Hinckley The Sunday to see the Morleys Morleys came by Las Vegas where they stayed overnight with Bryan and Geniel Brush and children Nate and Trula Abbott spent two days in Salt Lake visiting their children They stopped to see Bill and Arlene Chappell and children also Louise Abbott and children When they arrived at the home of Lawrence and Joan Abbott in Magna they found Joan had just been taken to the hospital in an ambulance suffering with bleeding ulcers She was a little better Saturday Deb Abbott received word that her father Bill Shanley of Salt Lake rolled his truck near Winnemucca Nevada He was transported to Salt Lake by ambulance The extent of his injuries is not known yet Last Thursday Garland and Phyllis Johnson and Jim and Maxene Owens drove to Moab We went to Dead Horse Point State Park and it is a remarkable sight We also drove to Arches National Park While at Dead Horse Point we met a lady who lived in Sutherland many years ago Her name was Opal Earl and she now lives in Hurricane Two of her best friends are Reid Tippetts sisters We stayed overnight in Moab and came home by Blanding Natural Bridges and Capitol Reef National Park on Friday We had a nice two days Bernard and Nella Jackson and Scott and Barbara Callister and children spent the weekend at their cabin at Fishlake sale in 1931 L'SPS Millard County SUTHERLAND Dora Rose - Ph: 864-316- 3 It seems there are lot of friends and neighbors leaving this earth for a more pleasant place Glen Rawlinson and Lola Dalton both good friends of ours both passed away on the same day We had a lot of fun experiences with Glen and Rayda Rawlinson He was a great Square Dance Caller and instructor as well as a great many other talents that A good friend and he possessed Lola worked in Wright’s neighbor learned to store when worked there love her and appreciated her friendship very much We send our deepest sympathy to both families We miss them too Mrs Mary Henrie spent two weeks in California with daughter Becky and Melvin Carter They are the proud parents of twin boys who just came to them They have other boys in their family Marilee Ohran and six boys from Provo were here over the weekend to visit with folks Eugene and Nayon Young They left on Sunday afternoon We received word from our daughter Margo that their son Paul David has received his mission call to fulfill a mission in Florida They are happy for that Melvin Hepworth stopped in to spend the night with the Heber Roses’ on his way back from Salt Lake He worked in the field on Saturday returning to Cedar that evening Bertha Owens has been hospitalized for a few days because of back proWe hope for her speedy blems recovery Bert Johnson underwent back surgery last week Reports are that he is doing well and we hope will soon feel well again He is in the Utah Valley Hospital Enjoyed a very nice conversation with Mary Henrie Mary moved into town and we miss her very much We often think what we are going to next week effectiveness of quiet consistancy There will always be things we shall and wish we had done differently always there are errors We can always promise ourselves that we will do differently in the future Without this promise life would be less than hopeful and lacking incentive for all of us With all and failures our errors brooding blaming ourselves we can always be assured that through funeral of their nephew last week at Roosevelt Utah The boy was driving home from a ball game He went to sleep at the wheel The car rolled over several times killing the boy instantly The boy is the son of Connie Fowles is the Connie and Nolan Omer daughter of Earl and Helen Fowles former residents of Sutherland They lived where Patricia and Randy Rich live now (not in the same house as that has been moved away) While Ellian and Sarah Fowles were over in the Uintas they with their children Gwen and Bryce Chappell and son from Kaysville and Frank and Colleen Fowles and two sons from Sandy experienced a muddy snowy rainy try at elk hunting No luck with getting their elk but had a lot of fun dragging through the mud and visiting with relatives We send our deepest sympathy to Earl and Helen Fowles and family for their great loss Maurine Anderson reports that their Missionary Wayne Evans is doing very well in Thetford Norfolk England one hundred miles north of London He is working mostly with the American Air Force People Has been there for four months but expects a transfer soon He is in a beautiful farming area and that is to his liking They have had lots of rain but it is not too bad Rulon Anderson is recovering Irom surgery that he experienced a month ago Hopefully he will feel well again soon Marilyn and Melvin Church were here over the weekend to transact some business They left to go where their children are to visit with them They arc from Nevada Roger and Erma Walker made a tour through Bryce Canyon and Pink Cliff Roger attended a Water Meeting in the
