Since the Occupy Wall Street protests began on September 17 they have spread to over 1500 cities around the world. Its not about left or right, conservative and liberal or Republican and Democrat, said. Its about the people. We need to put political parties aside and fight for whats right. Rundquist does not know exactly how the Occupy movement on Wall Street started, but she said it was a collective feeling between many people. She said many people are frustrated because the U.S. Dcl-Cho- lo Constitution claims everyone has equal opportunity. Now politicians and corporations are ruining the chance for all people to have equal opportunity. Rundquist said: Parents create a world so their kids and grand-kid- s have a better life. We no longer have that chance. Politicians and corporations dont care about us. They want to maximize profits. The Occupy movement has received criti cism, and both and Rundquist think it already has in St. George. We are taking a stand, DelCholo said. People dont like that we are taking a stand. Our place as U.S. citizens is to take charge. Everything is not OK." The next protest will be held on Thursday. All St. George residents and guests are encouraged to attend the protest. Millionaires and corporations are not paying their fair share of taxes and that is affecting us, Rundquist said. In St. George specifically, the first thing Occupy St. George wants to accomplish is to raise awareness to unemployment and poverty locally, DelCholo said. We are suffering in our own community, DelCholo said. You have 800 kids that are homeless in Washington County. We need to raise awareness here. The Occupy St. George group had two general assembly meetings so far and one protest. The group is planning on protesting local and national issues, Rundquist said. We dont want to stand silent on the sidelines anymore, Rundquist said. We want to take the power back. DelCholo said both Republicans and Democrats alike could benefit from the Occupy movement. fit,-- movement; speak out laissez-fair- the retake it with-- 1 paying it, said J.D. can bertson, racial director of aid. "Because of school policies, they will have to take between 12 and 20 credits, which they dont actually pay for, Robertson said. Whether it is a lower or upper division class, DSC students need to step it up because the financial aid office cannot fund failure. Students need to be careful and make sure they pass with an appropriate grade because if they fail and retake the While federal law doesnt provide financial aid for students to retake a course they have failed for the third time, Dixie State College provides a different solution if students are willing to take it. Though there are unforeseen circumstances that might doom students to fail a class their first or second time. DSC gives students an alternative to retake the class. class a third time, you will have to pay out of pocket," Robertson said. Either way, students should meet their class requirements by the second time they tried in order to avoiu failing the class and future financial aid assistance. Hazel Sainsbury, a junior communication major from St. George, said: Even though there are a lot of reasons why students may fail, it is only fair that student paid for their class. A lot of people need financial aid, and the federal government should give money to students that perform. There are options. Students can drop the class or audit it." Robertson also said the process started this semester, and the only way students can find out is through the Banner System. As soon as they are enrolled in classes, stu - Main Street and Tabernacle at 3:30 p.m. and march to City Hall's City Council meeting to protest the dance laws and the primary election, DelCholo said. "Financial aid is a great benefit for students, but there are rules and guidelines that they need to follow," Dean of Students Del Beatty said. "Aid is provided to students to get an education, and the financial aid office shouldn't paid for failing a class over and over again." ents ;c arm - 1 they to y- :nt t Testing Center moves to NIB, increases capacity, the headline as supposed to say the Testing Center moved to the North Plaza. fa the Broken iPhone Dont worry we can fix that. y Call or text today same story, the photo credit should be to Bryan Uhri. $10 off w Student ID 435-668-26- fori. 92 www.ic r a ck ed . co m The staff of Dixie Sun regrets these errors ENROLLING NOW!
