For many students, this is the first presidential election in which they have been eligible to vote. College campuses create an interesting subgroup of voters. students often vote via absentee ballots, while others may be residents and vote as any other citizen of the state. Business Dean William the Christensen said Stanford and feannine Holt Wireless Learning Center took the existing first floor atri- - um area in the Udvar-Haz- y School of Business and added some nice tables and chairs. The e chairs, the water feature, and the wireless networking in the building were already part of the Udvar-Haz- y School of Business. Christensen said the Holts are very familiar with the Udvar-HazSchool of Business, havits ing been involved in conand initial planning struction. They have kept close tabs on how the building has been used and the needs of students. Based on their observations, the Holts saw a need to provide a collaborative learning environment within the building. In an unscientific poll of 20 students (10 male, 10 female), 13 were registered to vote. Of those 13 students, 10 were Republicans, two were Democrats and one voter was an Independent. Of the voting students, six of them have voted using absentee ballots. Freshman Jessica Braun, an undecided major from Pocatello, Idaho, is a registered Democrat. She said the vice presidential candidates did not sway her decision on who to vote for. I had my parents mail me my absentee ballot, Braun said. Then I filled it out and mailed it back to the government. Freshman Hayley Sizemore, an undecided major from Jacksonville, N.C., is a registered Republican. She said she plans to vote for McCain in the presidential election.
