Grade: A DEFENSIVE BACKS Safety Cody Weight has proven to be the hardest hitg ter on a Dixie defense, but he has not been the only Rebel to shine this season. Patrick Sandoval and Kyle Olsen have provided excellent coverage all year long. Pat Baker led the Rebels in tackle. The defensive 's emergence this season was a pleasant surprise. Grade: A SPECIAL TEAMS The Rebels' special teams has been their achilles heel all season long. Although Travis Blackwell did kick a field goal against New Mexico Military, the g kicking game has not been Dixies best. Chris Anderson has done a decent job at punting. Opponents, however, have gotten very good field position on kickoff and punt returns. Grade: C hard-hittin- back-field- end of the regular season and time to hand out It's the he report cards. QUARTERBACK Quinn Hampton has thrown for over 2,000 yards this season. More importantly, Hampton has found ways to make the Rebels win, and has utilized the talents of Aaron Ware and Ethan Ross. The only knock on Hampton has been that his completion percentage is under 50 percent. However, whenever the Rebels have needed big plays from their quarterback, Hampton has stepped his game GRADE: A-up a notch. RUNNINGBACKS Dixie usually has one dominating This year, however, injuries left backfield in disarray. The Rebels rotated runningbacks often, using Tony Jones, Tony Nielsen, Aaron Sain, and John Banks all at various times at the season. While none of trie backs cracked a 1,000 yards, they all did well enough to keep Dixie's back. the strong runningback tradition intact. GRADE: B RECEIVERS The speedy Ethan Ross has been one of Hampton's favorite targets throughout the season. Ross has been able to make big play after big play. Wyatt Gines has also done well at the receiver. Tight end Aaron Ware was sensational all season long. Ware would turn most balls thrown his way into big gains.. GRADE: LINE The of Jeremy Schufelt, Brent Hogan, Seth Little, Turnbull Tuliaupupu, and John Watson were fantastic all season long. They saved Hampton from many defensive lineman, enabling the quarterback to have time to throw his long ball. They also opened up huge boles for the Dixie runningbacks. GRADE: A DEFENSIVE LINE game-winnin- BENCH Dixie is deep. Many of these players could be starting at other schools. The Rebels have shown depth at nearly every position throughout the season. If Dixie's second string players fielded a team, then they could probably e finish or better in the Western States Football League. Grade: A mid-tabl- COACHING Dixie has an awesome coaching staff. Coach Greg Croshaw is one of the NJCAA's Top 5 winningest coaches of all time.Coaches Gordon Jolley, Kelly Smith, Wade Roberts and Harry Justvig have used their expertise to help guide the Rebels. Grade: A OVERALL If we were to devise a grade point average from these grades just given, then the football team would have a 3.7, or an average. But how can we A-- to a team that has an give passed all of its eleven tests, earned the No. 1 ranking, given Dixie just its second undefeated could and bring home the school's first they season, regular national championship. Hmmm. Sounds like they have been doing some extra credit work. FINAL GRADE: A Anton Palepoi and Junior Siavii are definite candidates. Palepoi recorded 14.5 sacks on the season, while Siavii plugged up the middle. Siavii drew so much attention from opposing offensive lines, that it often freed up Palepoi and Dema Preobrazensky. All three players have a bright future in football ahead of them. Not to be left out is the great play by Isaiah Tafua, who has come up Legion Player of the Year.
