Show WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1999 THE SUN Arts & Entertainment U St. George Millennium Reach and Cheerleaders awarded October Clubs of the Month celebration announced Sun News Services St. George is holding its first ever First Night Millennium Celebration, with festivities on Dec. 3 1 on Mam Street from 6.30 p.m. to midnight. This year's Fust Night theme was inspired by the slogan, St. George, where summers sun spends the winter." Imagine side walk painting, mimes and clowns w the streets, swing music and barbershop quartet sounds coming from one venue, and hip hop tunes coming from another. Imagine savoring the smells from roastand a Hawaiian Luau. There chestnuts ing will even be a game area for children. X1ien the clock hits the stroke of midnight, imagine the explosive fireworks display erupting to usher in the beginning of a new millennium. Admission for the event will be $3 per adult (ages 12 and up). The person making the purchase will be given a button with the official 2000 logo and theme. This button will serve as a ticket to allow that person unlimited access into all perfonnances at spealk-in- g cial venues. Food vendors will also be on hand selling a wide vanety of foods and beverages. This event is alcohol free and those with alcohol containers will not be permitted into the event. t The October clubs of the month have been announced. It was a tie between the Rebels Extending Awareness, Care and Hope (REAC1 1) and the Dixie College cheerleaders. Both organizations represented and helped increase school spint dunng Homecoming Week. Last month the REACH club was busy.. On Monday, Oct. 18, they took time out of the busy homecoming evenis to help w'lth the G.I FT conference sponsored by the City of St. George. While there, they taught children how to develop team building technique. Their next event during that week was the campus clean-uproject on Wednesday, Oct 19.
