Rarely do people flip to the month of February on their calendar and say oh if s February, that means if s Black History month. Now, whether or not thaf s a sad thing you can decide. This holiday or celebration that many people are unaware of, don't know why it exists. Lefs enlighten. Unawareness that there even is a substantial African American history has dominated North America for a long time, when in fact, African Americans are just as much a part of U.S history as Europeans, or Mexicans, or Easterners. The great thing about America is that just about everyone living in this country has ancestors that helped shape the United States. Carter G . There is so much rich and varied history and culture that African Americans have brought to these United States Some people ask. Why is it so important to know our hisCo tory?, and Why is it so important to learn the history of other cultures? Maybe to enlighten the minds, and to gain an appreciation of what their own race and other races Mr, have felt and done, and most had importantly to help eliminate Civi prejudices. smai learning about what Area other races have done and brought to us we can better understand that person, and their ways. Maybe we should use this month as it was designated and learn more about the African American culture that helped shape the United By States.
