In addition to jail time, Brophy must pay $15.16 in restitution, and a Two Dixie College stu- dents were summoned to appear in 5th District Court, Thursday, Feb. 13, after incidents that allegedly occurred in the Dixie College Snack Bar on Jan. 29-3- 0. Paul D. Brophy was charged with communications fraud in connection with an incident of supplying a fictitious name and Social Security number to a Snack Bar cashier in charging a debit card for food. Brophy was sentenced to 15 days in jail, and placed $150 fine. Serrano was charged with one count of retail theft, and was ordered to pay a $30, or complete six hours of community service. Serrano was placed on six months bench probation, which may be terminated upon fine payment or proof of completion of community service. 'No sw.i( ns?o ifion DROP-I- N February 18, 199' New faces at Dixie College SUN NEWS SERVICES The positions of music director, institutional advancement secretary, and college mail carrier at Dixie College have been filled with the hiring of three individuals. J.H. Kim was named music director and conductor of chorale in the Music Department. Kim waited six months for Immigration and Naturalization Service clearance before assuming the permanent position. A native of Seoul, South Korea, Kim received a bachelor's and master's degree in music composition before graduating from Chung-An- g University in Seoul. Kim continued his education in the United States, earning a master of music degree in choral conducting from Eastman School of Music and a doctor of musical arts in choral music from Michigan State University. Kim classifies himself as a serious musician and looks forward to teaching his stu dents the beauty of traditional music. "Once they understand classical music, they will enjoy it," he said. Kim and his wife. Sun, have two children. Jim Waltner is the college mail carrier. A native of California, he has spent the last 20 years in South Carolina. Waltner relocated to Charleston, S.C. after joining the Air Force following graduation from high school. During his four-yeenlistment, he traveled extensively throughout the world and was part of the presidential support team that traveled to India with President Jimmy Carter. He has toured throughout Europe and the Orient. Waltner worked 10 years for United Parcel Service, one year with Federal Express and three years as materials management and shipping receiving clerk at a South Carolina hospital. Waltner and his wife, Vickie, who also works at Dixie ar College as a secretary for Family and Consumer Science Department, have two grown daughters. Waltner's hobbies include hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Elaine Murphy serves as secretary to Institutional Advancement and assistant to the Southwest Symphonj She previously worked for the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture for many years. Murphy was raised in he Uintah Basin on a dairy and cattle ranch and enjoys the outdoors and is an artist. She specializes in oil painting of wildlife and landscape. She and her husband have four children and five grandchildren. Their youngest daughter, Evah, played basketball and for the Lady Rebels, and is the assistant softball coach this year at Dixie College.
