The results of the poll showed that teachers have personally contributed $70,000 out of their own pockets for classroom supplies and materials. Students who tend to be more restless than usual is another set back of the diminishing education funds. Activities such as field trips are cut, leaving students with extra time to sit in the classroom and leaving teachers extra time to keep them occupied. Mr. Taylor, principal of Dixie High School, said Its been an unfair situation in that our students are having to pay to play. Another program affected in high schools as well as elementaries were the various career ladder programs. Taylor commented that teachers who are outstanding are no longer receiving the recognition they deserve for their work. Even though such teachers are still expected to conduct the same extra activities, all funding to outstanding teachers has ceased. While there are several ideas now under consideration regarding an array of educational crises we are being faced' with, no single answer corrects the numerous errors in Utahs educational system. for the national tournament which will be held the 5th and 6th of March ai Utah Tech in Provo.
