Utah history Kim Peterson SUN Staff H riter ' Rhett Butler, Scarlet OHara and a host of Confederates with the Confederate Flag, stormed the Utah State Legislature on February 6th to announce that Utahs Dixie is seceding from the state for two days. The secession will lake place March 13th and 14th, and will be the biggest celebration in the history of Southern Utah. It will feature two celebration days of different events and activities. Everyone from all over the stale is in- it ed to participate in the weekend festivities and, hopefully, bask in the sun of St. George. Although the celebration begins on a haunting Friday the 13th, it is expected to be very successful and worthwhile, beginning with a buffet at the n St. George Golf Club. Being for its sunshine and golfing, St. George will then hold a golf tournaconment starting with a hole-in-on- e test at 3:00 p.m., followed by the big tourney which is expected to last until 6:00 p.m. when the inauguration of President Alder will take place in the new Dixie Center. After the inauguration will be the reception in the Convention Hall of the Center. Much time and effort has been put forth into seeing that all goes well with the inauguration of Dixies 14th President and President of the 75th Diamond Jubilee year. The evening events will favorite be topped off with the e country singers, Mel Tillis and Dottie West, who will perform in concert in the arena. The second da of the secession, Saturday, March 14, will start with a major aspect of this years two-da- y gala.
