The play was written and will be performed by Larry D. Anderson, instructor of speech communications and forensics coach at Dixie College. Larry Anderson said, I first got interested in L.D.S. history about seven years ago while I was in college, at B.Y.U. I started at B.Y.U. in 1981 and I have been interested in church one-ma- n and tells about when Porter comes to the Utah Territory. in Utah there During the was not much law and Porter Rockwell became the man to hunt down the outlaws; he was a territorial In 1983, he went to a one man show deputy and he had to be tough because the men he was after were tough. He also worked for Overland Stage and Wells Fargo; whenever something was stolen from them, he had to go and get it back. Rumors in the Eastern Press of the time said that Porter Rockwell killed more men than all the bad men in the West put together. Who can say because the facts about men like Porter have been changed a lot over the years. ' He was a good friend of Joseph Smith and he grew up with him in New York . Porter was just a nor mal boy until they burned down his familys home. By the second time, he was ready for them. He was the third man to enter the Utah Territory and he spent time working as a guide and a scout. He was once thrown in jail for nine months and though he was always a big man, he lost so much weight that he was able to escape through a hole. Brother Brigham and Larry Anderson decided that he wanted to do a one man show as well. He decided that Porter Rockwell would be the one that he would do. The plays setting is in the 1860s Hughes chalks up another hit Leslie Shell SUN Staff Writer What? Who? Another John Hughes film? Oh, another JOHN HUGHES film. When I first heard that a new John Hughes film was out I invision-e- d myself going to the theater about an hour early so I could get a good seat. A sneak preview was going to be shown so I figured I had better go extra early to be in the front of a monsterous line. But to my surprise there wasnt a long line on down the street, in fact there was no line at all. I still dont know why. Some Kind of Wonderfull stars Eric Stoltz, Mask and Lea Thompson, Howard the Duck. The movie is about a typical teenage boy who falls in love with a girl from the right crowd. However, mixed up in this is a jealous boyfriend who is trying to get even with a threatening competitor and a girl who thinks she has no chance of getting her man. The outcome of the movie just goes to show that some teenagers do have a head on their shoulders and can make responsible decisions on their own. Current movies Movie I: Over the Top Sylvester Stallone Stallone portrays a truck driver who decides to change jobs. His real passion is arm wrestling. Which job will win over the other? Movie II:Outreagous Fortune Shelley Long, Bette Midler Two women find out that they are in love with the same man so they travel across country to look for this man to make him decide between them. However, their journey isnt all easy, they find plenty of trouble on the way. Movie III: From the Hip Judd Nelson, John Hurt, Ray Walston. A recent law graduate gets the job of defending a maniac. It is important that he wins this particular case so he takes drastic measures and emotional changes to keep from losing. Cinema I:Alan Quartermaine Richard Chamberlin, Sharon Stone, The super hero who found King Solomans mines is now looking fo a lost city of gold. Danger comes his way but he is willing to risk all. Cinema II: Mosquito Coast Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, River Pheonix. An inventor takes his family and moves to So. America when he gets tired of all the violence in America. While in So. America he begins to build his paradise but soon learns that the jungle isnt as tame as he thought. Even though the movie had a typical teenage setting, it was an excellent film. Anyone who is an avid John Hughes fan will probably agree that this is another movie to chalk up on Hughes board of success. I feel that this film wont be as big as some other works from Hughes but it will hold its own. is a message, as all of Hughes' films seem to have, which is something to think about. Besides the humourous side of Some Kind of Wonderful it also has its share touching moments. The movie proved to be balanced enough to be interesting while at the same time There humourous and heart warming. I would strongly suggest this movie as a great o.ie to see. Who knows, maybe youll learn something in the process. 11 show tonight in FAC history and in the process of studying it, Porter Rockwell was a colorful character so I have been interested in Porter since 1981.
