Some of their most recent art displayed at the art show today Pictured above are local artists (L to R) Jer Tolman, Melanie Scott, and Roland Art Show Opens March The first exhibit and art show of the season, sponsored by the Southwestern Utah Arts Council, opens Friday, March 11, with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the St. George Arts Center, 86 South Main be 11 in the arts council room at the St. George Arts Center, wih a live model, plus participation by all currently registered members, in an art show to be held in the arts center during the Fourth Annual St. George Arts Festival, April 1st and Street. Three local artists, Roland Lee, Jer Tolman, and Melanie Scott, will display some of their most recent art 2nd. All members may display three single pieces, whether paintings, photographs or sculptures. The exhibit will be put up on Wednesday, March 30th, from 6 :00 to 9:00 p.m., so members should bring their art work to the center as early as possible that evening. works. Roland will have a number of new watercolors, while Jer will display some portraits, watercolors and other media, and Melanie will show charcoal, pencil, watercolors and oils. Tuesday morning the choir did an exchange concert with Richfield High School. It was informal and lots of fun. After visiting awhile following the concert, the choir continued on to Price, Utah, for the annual Small College Choir Festival. The Dixie College Concert Choir returned early Wednesday morning from their annual tour. Their first road performance was Sunday night in Kanab, Utah. The next morning they traveled to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Bad weather shortened their tour, but on their return they were able to see some nice views. They traveled to Glen Canyon Dam for a short rest and then continued to Richfield for the Dixie College, Snow College, and C.E.U. all performed in a concert that was The choir returned home very tired, but in high spirits after a job well done. g well-receive- Sculpture Garden Progresses Smith to create four sculptured figures that will be placed in a reflective pool and fountain. They will include a family of father, son, and daughter--anaccording to Glen Blakley, art instructor, they will be larger than life, but smaller than heroic size. Blakley also indicated that the pool will be a wading pool, with water about six inches deep, with visitors invited to take off their shoes and wade right in. Sculptor Smith is the same artist who created the statue in the LDS Church Relief Society Memorial in At the recent Dixie College Institutional Coucil meeting, President Alton Wade reported on the progress of the college sculpture garden, to be located in the open area between the Student Union Building and the Fine Arts Center, and south of the Home Economics four--mothe- d Building. According to President Wade, plans for the project have been underway for about four years, with Dr. George Rampton, Director of Program Development, heading the drive for funds. A contract will be signed in the near future with sculptor Dennis Nauvoo, Illinois. Financial Aid Information Now is the time to apply for financial aid for next year. The Federal Applications are available at the Financial Aid Office in the North Administration Building. Many of the larger schools have some of application deadlines, which begin in April. Nearly all schools award financial aid on a basis, so it is to your advantage to apply early. The income information needed to complete the application should be obtained from yours and your parents 1982 Federal Income Tax' Return. The Financial Aid Office is willing to help you with your Federal Application. George Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a fun run tomorrow morning at 9:00. Participants have a choice of racing either one, two, or three miles. Anyone interested should pay the one dollar registration fee a 86 North Main by 8:30 Saturday morning. The recreation department would like all runners to be there by 8:45.
