Show DIXIE SUN February 11, 1983, Page Perry Jensen Named by D- - Week Chairman Linda Grisham Lori Wilkinson, Dixie College Special Events Chairman, has announced the appointment of chairPerry Jensen as the man. Perry is the son of Richard E. and Jessie A. Jensen, and was bom and raised in St. George. He attended Dixie Jr. High and was a 1980 graduate of Dixie High School, where he was active in football, track, and on the AMS Council. After serving a mission for the LDS Church in Illinois Chicago North Mission, he returned to attend Dixie College. He is presendy a freshman, and is majoring in business. Perry Jensen has been chosen to serve as chairman for which will take place in April. LDS Leaders to Speak by .Cindy Penrod Two leaders of the Church of Saints will Jesus Christ of Latter-dabe here in St. George on February 19 and 20 to share their humor and experiences with young adults of Dixie College, and the community of St. George. On February 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle, George Pace will be speaking to the community for the third consecutive Religion Series. The cost to enter the Series is one dollar. According to Wendell Gray, y the director of the LDS Institute, Elaine Cannon, who is the president of the Young Womens Organization for the church, had planned to speak at the Tabernacle, but because of a recent operation will not be able to attend. A young adult Fireside will be held February 20 at 8 :00 p.m. at the LDS Institute featuring Lyman Datton, the producer of Where The Red Fern Grows, and according to Brother Gray, he is an excellent speaker, and everyone should come and enjoy the Fireside. -- 2 cf Dixie Hosts BSA Pow Wow Several hundred Boy Scouts have been enrolled in the 15 th annual Merit Badge Pow Wow that is to be held at Dixie College on February 12, 19 and 26, 1983. The Pow Wow is a joint effort of the college and the Virgin River District, Boys Scouts of America. It is open to all qualified Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Explorers. Day and $ p0 JeweHm ' . L. Wade are members of the Pow Wow organizing committee for this year. The boys will be in 109 different sections taught by 45 instructors from the college and community. Utah 84770 (801) 673 2471 Kristen Catherall Dixie College sophomore ' coed Kristen Catherall, from American Fork, won the second place trophy in the difficult pentathalon, putting her skills against other students from California, Texas, Arizona, Idaho and Utah, at the annual C ACtus Classic Forensic Tournament in Coolidge, Arizona, last weekend. Kristen was one of three students from Dixie entered in the pentathalon portion of the meet. In this competition, participants are required to enter five other individual events and match their scores against the results of the other best performers at the tourney. In finishing second in the pentathalon, she also captured a first place in persuasive speaking, second place in drama interpretation, and third place in duo interpretation and readers theatre. 5 |
