Show May 24, cTWusical Notes Jr have improved from just being allowed to sing. What memories I have of building floats; performing in by Syd Ramsaur concerts, parades, shows and recitals; going on tours; eating tacos and drinking rootbeer (something I would only subject myself to for the Music Department); selling raffle tickets, pushing a chicken dinner and trying to raise money to keep us out of the hole. The Dixie Sun would have to go at least ten pages if I were to relate all my memories, half-tim- e I take pen in hand Sadly to write my last article for the Dixie Sun. As tears resulting from fond and sometimes painful memories fall to the paper smearing mascara and ink, I remember the first time I walked into the Music Deaprtment. It was to borrow Dr. Garner's record palyer to tape some music for "Apple Tree." Being the friendly, considerate and curious teacher Doc is, he engaged me in polite conversation. He soon found out that I played the horn and asked me to baritone be in the band. What a drag, I thought. I just got out of that stuff in high school. What a waste of time. It's a good thing I didn't listen to my negative reactions and accepted Doc's offer, or I would have missed out on two of the happiest and most rewarding years of my life. From band I gained the confidence to try my hand at singing with freshman-shy- , the choir. I don't care who has My gratefulness to the Music a better voice than mine, or Department will never die bewho thinks I'm not that good of cause through them I found my a singer, I know how much I potential and my worth. I have really enjoyed serving as Student involvement and student participation have made this year one I will always remember. t. I want to personally thank the members of the Executive Council, the Student Senate, the Committee, Appropriations Dean Iverson, President Losee, and any other people with whom I have worked. By working with these people I have learned so much. I love Dixie and I know will continue to the school progress. It's the students, teachers, administration, and Dixie Spirit which make Dixie such a great place. If the students will keep involved and always have a concern about what happens here, then each year will be greater. Have a great year next year. I want you to know I was truly proud to be a Dixie Rebel this year! Thanks for your support!
