Reflections of A Sophomore by Syd Ramsaur krow you're coming sometime but it's awful hard to leave. They say you can always tell a sophomore when graduation grows near by their constant use of a soggy kleenex. It will be hard to leave Dixie, my second home, but I know that as I grew up and had to leave home to keep growing and Church-yo- u back remember what it was like to be a Freshman-shy- , timid, wandering around campus lost; afraid to even think of asking a sophomore for directions. How relieved I was when a sophomore did take pity on me and showed me around. Now I walk confidently through the halls, waving to a teacher or stopping to talk with an old chum. Sometimes they are oneandthe same. I walk past the band room and shed a tear as Program Bureau sings "Just For Now." My beloved roommates are about to disown me because as my tears grow more and more uncontrollable, my time at Dixie grows shorter and shorter. Doing things for the last time nearly wipes me out. Singing "God Be With You" with the Concert Choir for the last time, playing Doc's "Wildcat Victory March" for the last (?) time, giving friends who have become brothers and sisters a last hug . . . I suppose it's something like going in the armed service or on r a mission for the LDS I two-yea- progressing I must leave Dixie to do the same. The Madrigals have a song called "Movin' On" that fits my feelings of leaving. "I gotta keep movin' on to hide the pain. . ." The pain of Dixie was who I am and what I can be. I've had the opportunity to do so many things I had no idea I could do. It was a growing experience to be a part of the music department and to belong to that big happy family. We had our quarrels and money pinches but we always came through. Already I feel the same old empty ache I felt as a freshman when I left home for the first time. How proud I am to have gone to Dixie! I think we have leaving the protective womb of both been enriched by two years Dixie and being reborn to bigger of living and growing together. and better things. When I first came to Dixie, I didn't know who I was, where I was going and how I was going to get there. Now I know. After all the biology, health, science and P.E. classes that I could have cared less about, after all the old hassles-fight- s and room- mates, making up after those fights, disagreements with the administration and those in power, personality conflicts with fellow students-- I think the most important thing I've learned at RODEO TEAM TAKES FIRST PLACE (Continued from Page 1) Bracken won the steer wrestling category. Other team members placed in the various Les events. The Dixie College girls' team had individuals who placed in several events. Mary Jo Rich placed in goat tying and barrel racing. Bobbie Kinney placed in goat tying and break-awa- y roping. And, Pam Slaerno placed in barrel racing. Two more rodeos will be held this spring - at Logan (Utah State University) and at Filer, Idaho (College of Southern Idaho). Joyce Ruesch, who has served as the Confederate editor this year, will fill the same position next year. C. Paul Andersen organized the first broadcasting on a "new" station in 1967, utilizing AM equipment from the old Dixie College station on the former downtown campus. This first broadcasting facility was housed in the broadcast booth of the Dixie College Gymnasium. Subsequently Professor Burke took over the radio program, and improvements were made which necessitated movmg to a larger area; therefore, the station began broadcasting from the "Green House" on the (See RADIO - Page 3 Col. 3) Graduate With Class in a Suit from THE CHATTING POST KEMP KORNER ST.
