Show Polygraph Expert Says Dotson Is Telling Truth CHICAGO (AP) Gary Dotson took a lie detector test Monday night and the polygraph examiner said he believed Dotson told the truth when he said he had never seen Cathleen Crowell Webb before she accused him of raping her in 1977. Dotson was asked five questions about his relationship with Cathleen Crowell Webb, said Robert C. Cum- mins, a polygraph expert. Dotsons answers indicate he had nothing to do with her on the day she was purportedly raped or any time before, Cummins said Webb, 23, now of Jaffrey, N H., said in March she had lied when she accused Dotson of raping her in 1977, when she was 16. She said she made up the story because she feared she was pregnant and wanted to prevent her foster parent from learning that she had had sex with another teenager. "In my opinion hes telling the truth, Cummins said in a telephone interview Monday night. Cummins asked Dotson if, on July 9, 1977 he was physically with Cathy Crowell Webb; did he take part in a sex act with her, did he force her to have sexual intercourse with him; did he ejaculate on or in her; and did he ever see her before the preliminary hearing in the case. He answered no to all those questions, Cummins said. The test was administered in secret, because Dotson and attorney Warren Lupel did not want the media to arrive and possibly upset Dotson, Cummins said. Much of the testimony from the actresses and comments by panel members were directed at attacking the farm policies of the Reagan administration as uncaring and insensitive to rural Americas pain. But Daschle defended the event, saying the actresses do not pretend to be farm experts because they have each rendered a sensitive portrayal of farm life on film." but are simply trving to "educate America." 35 YEARS! The review could lead to the banning of certain chemicals or the restricted use of others. Last year, the federal Environmental Protection Agency banned Silvex, a herbicide commonly used on lawns, after tests showed it contained traces of dioxin, one of the deadliest substances known to man. Most of the chemicals currently used to rid lawns of weeds and pests including Dicamba, MCPP, 2.4-Dursban, Diazinon, Benomyl, Zineb, Thiran, Balan, Dacthal and Tupersan were approved for use in the late 1940s and 1950s before EPA required adstricter testing for long-terverse health effects. Were trying to bring these comstandards," pounds up to modern-da- y says Tom Adamczyk, deputy chief of herbicides and fungicides in EPAs Office of Pesticides. In reviewing the chemicals as part of a larger examination of agricultural pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, EPA officials became concerned because these commonly used products had not been tested for some conditions, such as their likelihood to cause cancer, reproductive damage or birth defects. In other instances the tests were flawed and EPA asked the manufacturers to repeat other tests. May 17, 18, 19 From S1 195.00 days, 6 nights on the islands of Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea.
