Hopkins died Wednesday He was 74. He nance and ranching Beginning in 195U. he served four terms in the Utah House of Representatives, two of those as majority leader Local government service included being a member of the Vernal City Council and later serving as mayor. Mr. Hopkins was also a member in many civic and government groups and was a delegate to the national Republican Convention in 956. In 1961 he moved to Salt Lake City to become Utah's director of finance, and in 1969 he accepted a federal job as state director of the Small Business Administration. For six months he was also regional director of the SBA's Mountain States Office in Den- He was born Jan. 12, 1912, in Joseph. Sevier County, to LeRoy and Flora Ross Hopkins. He married Von-etMillett in the Salt Lake Temple of a Ben-nio- the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints in 1935. He was an active member of the LDS Church and held various executive positions in both Vernal and Salt Lake City. Mr. Hopkins received his high school education in Delta where he was student body president. He graduated from Utah State University on a scholarship and did graduate study in business management at the University of California and in Washing- gan. Other survivors include 23 grandchildren, sisters Mary Ann Hopkins and Maxine Peterson, Wenatchee, Wash.; DeLell Connelly, Salt Lake City; brothers Garn Hopkins, Kansas City; and John Koiter, Grand Junction, Colo. Services will be held Saturday in the Monument Park 15th Ward. 1320 South Wasatch Dr. Friends may call at Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 South on p.m. and at the ward Friday from on Saturday one hour before services. Burial will be at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park. The average rise for January is 3.8 inches, meaning that if the current trend continues, the monthly increase will be slightly less than usual.
