Geneva Study Gets County Funds PROVO (AP) — Utah County has fulfilled its $25000 commitment toward a study to determine if USX Corp’s Geneva Works can be kept open past its anticipated 1989 closing The county presented a $12500 check to the Geneva Advisory Board this week The first half of the commitment was paid in December county officials said The advisory board plans to contract consultants to conduct the study of whether Geneva can survive a USX plan to replace 70 percent of the plant’s steel production with less expensive Korean steel The study also would identify economic alternatives to offset the loss of the steel plant and its 2200 jobs The advisory panel includes representatives of Geneva management United Steel Workers of America state and local governments and local businesses The board estimates a full feasibility study may cost $400000 The board already has received preliminary approval for a $200000 federal Economic Development Agency grant to partially fund the study leaving $200000 in matching local contributions to qualify for the grant 20000-square-fo- tionally including people in real es-f- i tata banking ar-- s chitecture and en-- l Mr Stuart gineering business and property developers Mr Stuart is founding partner of which last Commerce Properties year participated in 42 percent of all industrial brokerage transactions He attended the University of Utah and worked with Simons and Co pri- -
