I never thought I could 1 catch her I thought I might catch her about 10 feet before the finish She knew I was coming but I think she was a little surprised Bonneville, which got a first place from Tammy Coombs in the long jump, was second in the team race with 16 points while pre meet favor ite Hillcrest was third as Leslie Nee bling picked up all 13 of the Huskies first-dapoints by winning the discus and finishing sixth in the long jump I would have liked to have thrown it further " said Neebling I guess I just wasn t used to the nice y weather ' East High s Susan DeVries, the outstanding individual performer this season, qualified first in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and the hurdle trials She broke her own state records in the hurdles with a time of 14 46 and her old mark in the 200 meters with a 25 60 time, al though Leopard Coach Ben Stow ell said DeVries had records pending in those events from previous meets this spring In the 3 A bovs team race, Cedar City and Ben Lomond tied for first after the initial day of competition with 20 points each but most observers figure the title race will come down to a battle between Mountain View and Timpview Saturday Cedar City puked up two first places Friday as David Dix won the 3 200 meter run bv nipping John Pratt of Murray while KC Jones captured the high jump title with a leap of ' I was hoping to go 6 8 or said Jones, but I hurt my ankle a little on my second jump Still.
