Show FAMINE IN WAKE OF WAR. Mexico Faces Serious Situation as Result' of Lack of Food. Mexico City. A report predicting that Mexico faces a serious situation respecting her food supplies has been made by a committee of Americans and other foreigners here who have been investigating the situation. The report in part follows: "Four years of almost continuous fighting throughout the various parts of the republic has produced a condition con-dition of affairs in the food supply situation so serious as to threaten a famine of such proportions as to necessitate ne-cessitate the world-wide aid. "The facts that farm hands have everywhere been thrown into so-:alled so-:alled armies, that farm animals have been utilized for like purposes, that leaders of roving bands marching un-3er un-3er banners containing fantastic legeads about liberty and the rights of Mi i, which they use as a blind to facilitate robbery, pillage and murder, have so reduced the crop acreage that by November, 1915, there will be i shortage of 39,370,000 bushels of corn alone, not to mention the other absolutely necessary cereals, are now well known to those investigating, who have made a careful study of this phase of Mexico's ills." |
