Show JNTEREST AWAKENING IN TAX AMENDMENT The mining Interests continue to flood the county with literature a-gainst a-gainst the prposed constitutional a-mendment a-mendment that would make them pay their proportion of the taxes, and are also carrying large ads in the Salt Lake dailies urging that the amendment be downed in the coming election. The Progress was asked for rates for running similar ads but we ignored the request, preferring to take up the fight for the amendment amend-ment as it was and is our thought that the best interests of our county, and the people of the state generally gener-ally will be served by voting for the amendment. The decision necessarily i Rieant the loss of some revenue to us, and we notice that some of the other papers In the state Beem to prefer the cash than the fight. However, we should worry. The people of the county have given us magnificent support sup-port in the past in fighting for what we have honestly believed was right and we have a pretty good hunch we'll continue to be honored with their confidence con-fidence all that some local "authorities" "author-ities" say to the contrary. Get busy! Study the amendment for yourself and, If you do not get all the features quite clear call on some competent authority to explain the matter, but take all the "dope" handed hand-ed you by those whose toes are being stepped on for just what it is worth. This appeal Is made for effect only and should be wholly disregarded dis-regarded coming from such a source and from men who desire to have their taxes reduced two-thirds while the rest of the citizens continue to pay the same as heretofore. "No one wants or advocates that the maximum of future taxation be increased." ' Section 2 of Article 13 of the constitution con-stitution is substituted by a new provision pro-vision which says that all taxes shall be uniform upon classes of property whereas the present constitution slates sl-ates that all property within the state ahall be taxed in proportion to it's value.
