Show PROGRESS STRAW VOTE Not to be too far behind some of the othur sections of the state in the harmless diversion offered in the taking tak-ing of "straw" votes, the Progress, in cooperation with the management of the different movie houses of the county, has underway a straw vote of the several towns where picture shows are given. A vote had been planned to be taken tak-en at Emery and Huntington last Wednesday night but the ballots failed to get into Mr. Greenhalgh's hands in time for this week's Emery show and that one will have to be taken next Wednesday night instead. The Hun-i Hun-i ington vote was taken but it was decided de-cided not to count it as a large number num-ber of regular show patrons were in attendance at the Morris rally which had not been taken into consideration when the vote was arranged for. Ye editor took the straw of the Castledale theatre at last Wednesday's show and the ballots had some of the earmarks of a regular election when examined. There were samples of almost every conceivable scratch that the limited number of candidates made possible. Three scratched for Wilson, one scratched scrat-ched for Morris, and one scratched for Bamberger. The results follow:Hughes7, Wilson 20, Sutherland 10, King 17, Morris 10, Bamberger 17. Another ballot will be taken at the Huntington theatre tonight (Saturday) (Satur-day) and also at the Ferron house. The Green River house took a vote last Saturday night but we have not learned the exact figures. All these results, together with the Emery vote to be secured next Wednesday night, will be tabulated for appearance in next issue. It Is aimed that these votes be taken as fairly as possible all parties In the house of a legal age to vote being given giv-en that privilege while the ballots are regularly counted in the presence of at least two other parties. aGrouraa |
