Mrr. jp -. , s V lj' r The scent of the Lilies fs bound and holden, Ita Incense rises In bordered aisles There's the promise of spring; In the sunlight golden, There's the Joy of spring: In the children's smiles ! And yesterday's toil and hurried clamor, The city's throng: and the city's strife, Its cluttered scene and Its fevered Rlamoar That make us the struggle vre dare call Life. We leave It all at some fair, dim portal, (The Lilies grfeam In the bordered bor-dered aisles 1) And oh, the message and gift Immortal t ("There's the Joy of spring In the children's smiles!) And we hear of that far-off Syrian garden, Where Mary's Master stilled her fear, And the angel's words of hope and pardon i "For He Is risen i He Is not here." Risen! Sweet Christ of the distant dis-tant agesl Like Mary, we listen and know the Tolcej And more than the story of hallowed hal-lowed pages The touch of His love and life rejoice. For in any sadness of some tomorrow, to-morrow, If we hear His answer we lose all care, And above forgotten tears and sorrow The scent of the Lilies shall linger there! |
