Show PRIN. C. F. HICKMAN CIVES EXCELLENT LECTURE Prin. G. V. Hickman, of the E. S. A., the speaker at last Sunday night's M. I. A. conjoint session, held his audience spellbound with his plea in behalf of the next generation. The lecture was given in connection with an excellent program 1 of readings and musical numbers and all helped to make the evfning one that j was well and pleasantly spent. I Prin. Hickman thought the solution of many of the defects creeping into the human race as being entirely within the hands of past, present, and future parents par-ents to wholly remedy and eradicate if tney would. Millions of dollars have , been spent in improving the breed of horses, cows, swine, and other animals, but practically nothing has been spent to improve that most favored and precious in God's sight the human being. Very little has been forth coming of money j or effort to assist in the improvement of the human race. Man, with his superior sup-erior thought, mind, and smile, has always al-ways been in supreme control of the animal world; and the man who lives in a good environment cannot but radiate good from every angle. The speaker dwelt on the danger in kis sing diseased persona and even in associating as-sociating with th em. Diseases had been transmitted lo each of a whole group of girls who had parli-.-ioated in a kissing kiss-ing game with a transient individual who had happened to re afflicted with a disease which is the curse of humanity. In another instance a girl who had associated as-sociated with a young man against her parents' wishes, and had permitted him to kiss hei was now the victim of sores which had radiated from their source on the forehead to her hair and eyebrows. eye-brows. Dwelling on the objections raised by those in sympathy with the liquor traffic that they could not .- ffor I to get along without the revenue, 'the speaker became be-came quite enthused and condemned these false arguments as originating only from selfi-;ti intere.-,ts who are only concerned with dragging boys and girls down into the depths, and urged that the people turn from the pursuit of the dollar and undertake to save boys and girls the citizens of tomorrow. |
