Show One of Pete Dailey's Stories. Two racing stories concerning the late Pete Daileyas narrated by Harry Bulger: Frank Lane, an actor in the Charles T. Hoyt companies, quit the stage to-become to-become a sheet writer and confidential agent for Kid Weller. "Where's Lane now?" somebody asked of Dailey. "They've'given him a part of a book: up in Canada," responded Pete, "and I think he drew the flyleaf." Bulger and Dailey on the Sheeps-head Sheeps-head Bay track at the conclusion of the day's program: "How did you-finish, you-finish, Pete?" he inquired. "Fine,"" was the answer. "I beat the first five-races five-races and I'd have beaten the sixth it I'd had my cane with me." |
