Chief Executive Outlines What Congress Con-gress H;j3 Tried and Admits That Test of Time is Yet to be Applied. Washington. Another confident prediction that the country will enter upon a new era of enterprise and prosperity was voiced on Friday by President Wilson in a speech before the convention of the American Electric Elec-tric Railway association. Speaking to business men and through them to the world of business busi-ness generally, the president outlined what the Democratic congress has tried to accomplish through its trust legislation, and declared that while a test period would be required to determine de-termine whether the correct remedy had checked enterprise for twenty 'maze of interrogation points" which had cehcked enterprise for twenty years had been cleared away. With a common understanding regarding re-garding business reached, he said, henceforth nobody is going to be suspicious sus-picious of any business just because it is big. He gave some of the "rules of the game" which he thought ought to be followed, heading the list with publicity "not doing anything under cover." "I have always maintained that the only way in which men could understand under-stand one another was by meeting one another," said the president. "If I believed all that I read in the newspapers, news-papers, I would not understand anybody. any-body. I have met many men whose horns dropped away the moment I was permitted to examine their character." |
