| Show WHY DONT WE A As ai i each harvest time comes and gos es the citizens of this community bave e demonstrated cpr them elle tha necessity of something to take care ol of the excess fruit which cannot bo be shipped ped this fact is brought home with greaber loice joice this year rear than ever perhaps because odthe of the tremendous amount of fungus affected peaches which are worthless so far as the market Is con concerned corned but which have bave a very high I 1 commercial value it either evaporated canned or made into peach pulp peach butter and the thousand and one things which might be thought of afi for instance the wind storm the other evening blow off good peaches a and nd bad peaches and every peach that fell upon the ground is dono done for as a marketable article but it is not damaged a particle tor for the ithe other purposes mentioned and because wo we have not the facilities for taking care of 0 the excess hundreds yea thousands of dollars go to waste every year and we sit down and complain at the condition the big meat packing houses have found that unless every part and particle of a critter is used they lose money and the packing of meat has become such a science that the only thing wasted is the 1 squeal by the same premises our fruit growers will never make the industry pay until some means is provided to take care of everything that cannot bo be shipped out on the trains in some orchards this year the the e entire crop will be wasted because of the fungus and yet those orchards are loaded with the most beautiful peaches one would c care ire to look at aside from the little specks the fungus has made it if peeled those peaches could be ba evaporated canned made into butter pulp or preserves with just as good results as jr it they had not the slightest sign of 0 fungus on them it does seem a shame to see the fruit go to waste how long we will permit it is a question but it if we are unwilling to take care of what the lord gives us dont let lei us ua complain because of things we cant get I 1 |
