Show GUARDSMEN TO BE SHJTJP SOOli MILITIA WILL BE RELEASED FROM SERVICE ON BORDER IN SHORT TIME. Pershing's Regulars to Guard Frontier and it is Believed That His Force Will be In a Better Military Mili-tary Position. Washington. Although Villa's operations oper-ations have confused the situation in northern Mexico, there is every indication indi-cation that the administration is going go-ing forward with its plans fo rearly withdrawal of Pershing's expedition and demobilization of the national guard. Officials here have Insisted it was impossible to set a definite date for the troop movements because of the uncertainty of transportation facilities and because the situation is constantly chaaging. It has been indicated clearly, clear-ly, however that unless there was some unexpected development, Pershing's withdrawal and return of the guardsmen would be ordered within a few days. The reports on Villa's new campaign cam-paign apparently have not disturbed this determination, but they may operate oper-ate to hold up orders pending a more thorough investigation. Army officers contend that the Pershing force would be in a better military position if wtihdrawn and regrouped, but they are anxious to locate the Villa forces more definitely first. |
