Show URGES SENATORS TO MEASURES PRESIDENT WILSON ANXIOUS FOR ACTION ON HIS ENTIRE LEGISLATIVE LEG-ISLATIVE PROGRAM. Members of the senate sen-ate steering committee were earnestly urged toy President "Wilson on Friday Fri-day to get into lively action on administration admin-istration legislative measures so that the entire program of reforms advo-eated advo-eated by the president when he entered en-tered the White House might be on the statute books by March 4. To impress upon the Democratic leaders his views, the president made another trip to the senate office building build-ing and discussed the clogged legisla tive calendar with Senators tt.era, Williams, Thomas, Reed, James and Chamberlain for more than two hours. He made it clear that he was anxious for action on all measures he outlined at the beginning of the session, including in-cluding railroad labor legislation as the paramount issue, water power and other conservation bills, a corrupt practice measure, the Webb oolectlve foreign service agency measure, and the Porto Rioan citizenship bill, together to-gether with the big appropriation bills and necessary revenue legislation. Admitting that this is a big undertaking under-taking in view of the fact that there are lss than thirtyix legislative days remaining in the life of the Sixty-fourth congress, administration leaders are perturbed over the situation. |
