Show ORANGEVILLE We have surely got a Red Cross committee of true American blood ladies who are ever ready to assist in any way to help the cause, and doing everything they can to help win this war. Their first attempt is a great evidence of their ability. Last Monday Mon-day evening they gave a dance in thf-social thf-social hall which was beautfully decorated dec-orated while the music was grand. At about ten-thirty o'clock they raffled off a cake which brought them a good round sum. The lucky lady gladly returned the cake and it was cut up and sold out at five cents a piece. It being a fine large fruit cake, a few more dollars was realized. The cake was a credit to the committee and was beautifully decorated with small red crosses on the white covering, with a large red cross standing in the center. The ball room was packed and all had a very nice time. Miss Alice Reid is chairman of the committee and the following are members: Mrs. J. O. Luke, Mrs. Howard Reld, Mrs. Dell Peacock, Mrs. Ruth Peacock, Mrs. Ed Robertson, and Mrs. Ed Reid. We shall soon be happy to se Mrs. Will Fail out among her old friends and taking her place with us all whers she is so welcome. If all those whom Kate has visited with love and kindnesses kind-nesses and dainty things to tempt sick people have turned to her in in her sickness, she could not have been lonely lone-ly one moment, for she has always been a faithful friend to the poor and sick and has hosts of good friends. Mrs. Arch Huntington, we are glad to hear, is home again with her little family who have missed her so much. We are always glad to see our townspeople towns-people home well and happy, and wish them a speedy recovery. Mrs. Huntington Hunt-ington is also one of our splendid women whom we all love. Word was wired bright and early the other morning that Mr. and Mrs. John Cox had a bouncing baby boy. and both mother and babe were doing just fine. Mr. and Mrs. John Ollpliant have another nice baby girl. We are having quite a change rt' homes lately. R. O. Justesen has purchased pur-chased and has already moved into the cozy Tuttle home; Sheriff O. W. Sitter Sit-ter u d has purchased Mrs. Fred Fail's (Continued on page 8) ORANGEVILLE . (Continued from page 1) home, and we understand that Gunnar Ihler has purchased Sheriff Sitterude's home. There are a few brandnew autos in town to make life more pleasant for some of our people. Pres. Jewkes is one of the happy new owners and Harry Har-ry Reld Is another, while we hear there will be others before long. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. VanHuren and J Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Snow were home I last week to see their friends but have returned to their work in the camps. Miss Alta Luke has gone on a pleasure pleas-ure trip to visit relatives and friends j in our neighboring camps. Hope you enjoy the visit, Alta, but don't stay long. Everybody was glad to see Will Humphrey who came to town on busl- : ness this week. He Is feeling fine and looking well and we all hope some time he will come back and make his home here.
