Show CLARKE FOR SUPREME BENCH. Former Associate of Secretary Baker and Tom Johnson Selected. Washington. J. H. Clarke, United States district judge at Cleveland, O., has been nominated by President Wilson Wil-son as an associate justice of the supreme su-preme court to succeed former Justice Jus-tice Charles E. Hughes, the Republican Republi-can Nominee for the presidency. The president discussed his selection selec-tion at Friday's cabinet meeting and sent the nomination to the senate immediately im-mediately afterward. In Cleveland Judge Clarke for a long time was associated in politics with the late Mayor Tom Johnson and Secretary Baker. He has been classed as a Progressive-Democrat and has taken part in several reform movements. |
