He reports things humming at the Black Hawk camp, the Rocky mountain record for coal production in one shift having been broken by that camp one day last week. Judge George Christensen of Mt. I Word was received last week of the safe arrival in France of Lester Jorgensen, Jor-gensen, one of the last bunch of drafted men to leave Emery county. He, with Wilse Nielson, also of Castledale, had no more than arrived at Camp Lewis than they were transferred to Camp Merritt, New York, filling vacancies in the ranks of an old-established regiment, regi-ment, with the result that they were soon ordered overseas. Lute Childs, of whom a brilliant future fu-ture as a cartoonist is predicted by people who know him and his talent for catching the laughable features of life, has answered the call of his country coun-try and left Tuesday for Fort Leavenworth, Leaven-worth, Kansas, where he will enter as clerk in the engineers corps. His extreme short(?) stature eliminated him from entry in the ranks. Only a brief visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Childs was permitted, as he did not arrive from Kenilworth, where he has been employed, until 9 o'clock in the morning, and left again on the mall.
