Show MORE MEN NEEDED FOR LUMBERMAN'S REGIMENT Six thousand men are wanted at once for the second Forest Regiment (Twentieth Engineers) Which will be the biggest regiment in the world. The first forest regiment has been in France for several months furnishing furnish-ing forest materials for our army. Some battalions of the second regiment regi-ment have also gone over and others will go as soon as their equipment and preliminary training are completed. Men who join, therefore, are assured of early service abroad. Men not of draft age but between the ages of 18 and 40 may join by enlistment. enlist-ment. Registrants under the selective draft law who have not been notified to hold themselves in readiness to report re-port for duty at camp can be "inducted" "induct-ed" into the regiment providing they are qualified for it. Applicants may apply to the forester, forest-er, Washington, D. C or to local officers offi-cers who have been recruiting men for positions in the forest regiments. Applications should state fully any experience ex-perience in the various lines cf work, together with names and addresses of employers. Three thousand men are wanted for lumberjacks, sawmill works, and log-ing log-ing and railroad operators and builders; build-ers; the other three thousand are wanted for road and bridge building battalions to serve as auxiliary to the logging and sawmill units. Men for che road building battalions should be with the operation of road crushers, road rollers, scrapers and graders, and motor trucksLaborers experienced in road work are also needed. Men skilled in every phase of manufacturing manu-facturing and delivering of lumber and other forest products needed in the army will make up the lumbering and sawmill battalions. Sawyers, teamsters, team-sters, axemen, tie makers, cooks, and charcoal burners are classes needed fo"r woods operations. Graders, track layers, track bosses, locomotive engin-neers engin-neers and firemen, brakemen, machinists, machin-ists, and laborers are wanted to construct con-struct and operate logging railroads. Man skilled in all kinds of work a-round a-round sawmills, including filers, stationary engineers, boiler makers, truck and tractor operators and laborers for lumberyards are required. vv. s. s. |
