Show PEACE LEAGUE BRANCH ORGANIZED IN COUNTY An organization fcr Emery county of the American branch of the League to Enforce Peace was formed last Saturday Satur-day afternoon in the local ward hall. M. E. Johnson, temporary chairman for Emery county, called the meeting and explained the purpose of the league, alter which the followiug organization was effected: M. E. Johnson, permanent perma-nent chairman; David S. Williams, secretary-treasurer. A county com-mi'tee com-mi'tee will be appointed later by the chairman who will also appoint a delegare dele-gare ;o a tend the state convention in S dt Lake City in April. Some fourteen four-teen citizens enrolled themselves as members at Saturday'? meeting. The American Branch of the League to Enforce Peace was formed at a conference confer-ence held in Independence hall in Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, June 17, 1915, with Ex-president Wm. H. Taft as president and including in-cluding such such men as Alton B. Parker, Par-ker, Theodore Marburg and Herbert S. Houston in the national organization. The Hon John C. Cutler of Salt Lake City is temporary state chairman. The object of the League is to establish es-tablish and maintain peace after the close of the present war; not to end the European condict; and is a very worthy movement. Another county meeting w ill be held in the near future, at which the delegate dele-gate to the Salt Lake convention will report that convention and other business busi-ness be transacted. |
