Show SENATOR IVERSON OUTLINES HIS WORK In an interview at the Cullen Hotel in Salt Lake Senator Iverson had the following to say as to the importance of his district and the work he expects to do for it during the present session: "The district which I represent, including in-cluding Carbon, Emery, Uintah, Grand, and San Juan counties, is developing probably more rapidly than any other section in the state. Railroads, mining camps and oil wells are springing up, and Carbon county has close on to $400, -000 monthly payroll. The people of my district regard the talk of a money stringency as a joke, for they are prosperous. pros-perous. "Eastern capitalists are looking towards to-wards Eastern Utah, taking hold of pro jects already commenced, ana creating new ones to take care of the limitless resources of the region. What the people peo-ple of southeastern Utah need more than anything else is some provision for making the district more accessible to the railroad running through Grand, Emery and Carbon counties. To this end the improving of the roads of easc-ern easc-ern and southeastern Utah should be amply provided for. More than anything any-thing is needed the construction of a wagon bridge across the Grand river near Moab. Such a bridge would be the key that unlocks the door to a region re-gion of vast wealth and opportunity lying south and east of Grand river, the outlet to which is now western Colorado. The population there is rapidly growing, grow-ing, and unless a bridge is built it is probable that an outlet by way of the Santa Fe will be made. "The Question of creating a new county out of the eastern part of Wasatch Wa-satch and the western part of Uintah counties is likely to be an important question to come before the legislature; and it is probable that a proposition will be made to create another senatorial sena-torial distriot out of the Twelfth, which has a big diversity of interest, and is of such vast area that one senator can scarcely cover it. |
