Show RELIEF SOCIETY HAS SURPRISE PARTIES The Relief Society has a way of its own of reminding people that its members mem-bers enjoy fun and socialibility and want to do some good, as they go along. They have been having parties at the homes with a vacant chair on account of some member being in the mission field. They have had many of them and the prst week there has been two. Last Friday night they made merry at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Jorgensen. It was a surprise of course but there was a good turn out and they were made as welcome as though they had been invited. With games, music and sociability the time passed rapidly up to the lunch hour when the ladies produced well filled baskets and all had a share of the good things prepared. A purse for the missionary was left as a reminder of the visit. On Thursday night the;- surprised Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Day in the same way. There were about 65 of the merrymakers merry-makers and they had a fine time for the few hours they could spend there. It so happened that Mrs. Day was not very well and was in bed when they arrived, ar-rived, she got up however and had a good time with the rest, but on this account ac-count they did not stay as late as usual. None of the essentials had been neglected neglect-ed and they played, sang and ate picnic in a way that showed plainly that all were having a good time. Here also they left a good purse for the absent missionary. These parties cannot fail to be much appreciated by the families visited and even more treasured in the memory of the missionary who is among strangers in a strange land. |
