Show A LENCTHY SESSION OF JUSTICE COURT i j The trial of Chas. Bee be for burg-j burg-j laries at Ferron before Justice Soren-I Soren-I son as mentioned last week ended in a i a bindover to the district court. The i hearing lasted until Monday night and i the arguments of the lawyers took the J greater part of the day Tuesday. ; An immense number of witnesses were put on by the state and quite a i number bv the defense, the evidence directly conflicting at many points. The only evidence produced which was not circumstuncial and connected the defendant directly with the crimes was that of George Shurtz and he, on cross examination, got his stories so badly tangled up that the defense claimed his testimony should be thrown out altogether. alto-gether. These things will of course all be sifted over before the district court. There was a large crowd at the trial all the way through and at the end the opinions of the listeners seemed to be rather more against than for a bind-over. bind-over. And now that the hearing has been held and the bits of evidence have been heard, the Ferron burglaries look as mysterious as ever. We hope the next trial may bring out some more positive evidence as to who the guilty party, or parties if more than one, really is. Somebody ought to be punished. |
