Show STEEL PLANT WOULD luNsUMt M COALS Again rumors are afloat that a huge steel plant is to be placed in Utah val-lev. val-lev. This ti.i.e rumor has it that Goshen Flats, land lying below Gojhen on Utah Lake, will be the site for the enterprise. Iron ore is to be taken from ' the vast deposits in Iron and Emery counties. Coal will be supplied from i Emery and Carbon counties and water from Utah Lake. Speaking of tne matter the other day a prominent rail-I rail-I road official stated that the matter was j under consideration. What would the people of the valley say about it? asked the official, "if the plant was located in the- vicinity of Goshen. Will there be much complaint from the fruit raisers on account of the j fumes?" When asked about the probability of the plant being established, he assured us t:i i: .itisunder consideration and that if the plans were carried out a plant would be erected that would use thousands thou-sands of men. "The enterprise would require several sever-al millions of dollars," he added, "and business conditions will have to change before final steps are taken, but in time it is sure to come. Utah will yet be one of the greatest manufacturers of steel in the entire country." Provo Post. |
