Nolan Hanson, superintendent of the Jordan River State Parkway, wouldn't advise swimming in the river et Cleaning up efforts by state and local entities have made the river clean enough for canoeing and vanous activities along the waterfront If you get on the river and float it, you never know you are going through the city, said Mr. Hanson. Its really serene and quiet He said the river has had much publicity in the past, with most being negative. During the last 100 years, people have dumped ashes and bottles into the river, he said. And, some people are using it as a dump for dead animals No More Dumping These practices will no longer be allowed. People caught dumping trash into the water will be cited and asked to remove the offending item. Raw sewage is also no longer going into the water.
