Show "Overtbdllountain" CLIPPINGS FROM SANPETE PAPERS Mt. Pleasant The Twentieth Century Club was entertained at the home of Mrs. F. C. Jensen on Thursday last. Mrs. Fannie ' Miles reviewed the second lecture on Naples. The souveniers and pictures from Naples made it a most interesting lecture. Miss Carol I Jensen played "A Wild Rose" by ' Carol Bohen, and later Winnifred Jensen accompanied her in a duet "Humoreske." A dainty luncheon was served, while the guests enjoyed the social hour. Mrs. Goerge Christensen was hostess on Friday at the regular meeting of the V. C. T. U.. Mrs. 0. F. Wall and Mrs. C. L. Johns conducted splendid reviews on temperance and mothers' departments. Interesting discussions i followed the papers. The union is planning for the celebration of the birthday of Neil Da, the Father of the Temperance movement, in the near future. A dainty supper was Berved by the hostess. Wilford Hafen, who has been ill for several weeks, is out and able to walk about the streets aga n. Miss M. L. Wynn, a hat trimmer from Salt Lake City, arrived in Mt. Pleasant last Saturday and is assisting Mrs. E. F. Lamont in the millinery business. Ed Madsen came home from the desert on Tuesday and he fel3 that j the conditions out there for the sheep cannot be excelled. Everything is looking fine for the herds at the present. pres-ent. Mr. Madsen spent a few days in 1 Salt Lake City before coming to Mt. Pleasant. Robert Weech came down from Salt Lake City to spend a few days here visiting with friends in Mt. P easant. Floyd Averett returned from Carbon county where he has been employed for a f;w months past. H. C. Merz was a Salt Lake visitor during the week. He went to the city last Tuesday to attend the automobile show which was held at that place. M;ipe Lundberg went to Salt Lake City on Tuesday to be in attencance at the big a ltomobile show which was held there this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Seely came down from Idaho last Tuesday and -"ill visit here with relatives and friends. Mrs. Seely's health has not been very good for some time. Mrs. Jorgan Madsen of Manti has been visiting relatives in Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant during the past week. She was here to attend the funeral of the little child of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Poulsen. Mrs. Madden is the mother of Mri. C. W. Sorensen and Mrs. Poulsen. Mrs. R. L. Moffit of Manti has been yisiting with her sister, Mrs. C. W. Sorensen, this week. . Ruby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Larsen, of this city, died at the L. D. S. Hospitol in Salt Lake City last Sunday morning at about 2 o'clock. She had been sent there to undergo an o'peration for appendicitis on Thursday the 27th of February. She was born January J6, 1901. Funeral servicos were held at the South Ward Chapel Wednesday sfternoon. Bishop Jas. Larsen presiding. Bros. Chris Johansen, A. Mesz and Bishop James Larsen were the speakers. The choir furnished sacred mu ic and a nice lot of flowers were given by friends. The Wilson-Marshall Inaguml Ball given in this city on Tuesday evening March 4th was thoroughly enjoyed by citizens of Mount Pleasant, Spring City and Chester. It was one of the events of the season. Everybody who were able to attend did so. The hall was decorated in a fitting manner for the occasion. Harry Eri-kson sang a solo and H. LeRoy Neilson gave an excellent toast on "Our Next President." Presi-dent." Delicious refreshments were served. Chas. H. Oldham received $27.50 from friends of John E. Larsen to help defray the expenses of the operation upon Ruby Larsen at the L. D. S. Hospital. The doctors rendered their services free of rharge. The sum was turned over to Bishop H. C. Jacobs by Mr. Oldham. i . |
