The end result is an apartment with a look both of warmth and spaciousness. Venetian blinds and shutters accentuate, but do not overwhelm the windows. The only carpeting is in the entrance hall. Area rugs lie in the living room and study, surrounded by the glistening floors. Furnishings are sparse, but each picked with great consideration. A wicker couch, a stark modern chair, a contemporary clock and a glass coffee table decorate the living room. A piano and plants adorn the dance studio. Oriental screens grace almost every room. THE DINING room is furnished with a lacquered bamboo table, buffet and etagere. Photographs of the company, sculptures, books and two oils of Barry by Alvin Gittins personalize the apartment. In early February, Barry and Michael opened their apartment to friends with a celebration. But there was also a reason to be glum. Just days before the party they received a notice of eviction. The Madsen Apartments, built about 1900, will be razed soon after April. In its office building place will rise a three-leve- l of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association. Barry has taken his other moves more lightly, but this one hurts. "Every time I think of a bulldozer hitting this building, I think of it as if it were hitting me." ... 4111M1B dione...some ,,, qi:'',:'i..,.. !'
