Salt Lake City professional baseball claims such a tradition since it initiated a working ag reement with the California Angels in 1971 The very first year of the Salt a the Salt Lake Angels finished with a regular season record under manager Del Rice to capture first place in the southern division of the Pacific Coast League. Rice then guided the Salt Lakers to the PCL crown, as they defeated Jim Marshall's Tacoma Cubs three games to one m the best of five scries.
